The Health Wellbeing & Social Care BA/BSc (Hons) Top-Up course in London considers current practice and future directions for improving the health and wellbeing of the whole community; it identifies economic, social and environmental factors that influence our health, and emphasises the need for strategic initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of our community through partnerships between health, social care and other public, private and voluntary sector organisations.
A broad-based academic health, wellbeing and social care programme designed for people who wish to work or who are already working in the health, wellbeing and social care sector. Students will be able to develop a critical understanding of the delivery of health and social care services alongside the development of skills required for employment, in areas such as health promotion, public health and 3rd sector services.
Health Wellbeing & Social Care BA/BSc (Hons) Top-Up
If the student already hold an HND or Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care sector, this course gives them the opportunity to study for a one year full-time (Top-Up) degree. Whether you are involved in care delivery through paid or unpaid work, or if you use health and social care services yourself, or wish to develop a career in this sector, the programme is designed to deepen your understanding of policy, theory and practice in health and social care delivery and management. You will learn about key approaches in, and explanations of, health, wellbeing and social care in addition to developing personal transferable skills in team working, problem solving, communication and IT. You will also develop a sound and critical understanding of policy, theory and practice. You will examine the context and processes of change in yourself, in groups and in services.
By the end of your studies you will be able to evaluate the different roles in the context of policy development, and recognise and value diversity and difference. You will also understand how ethical, legal, social, economic and political factors influence the provision and development of services, in addition to developing the critical and analytical skills needed to engage in the understanding and development of evidence-based practice.
On completion of the programme you will have acquired the level of knowledge and understanding and transferable skills that will enable to take full advantage of a range of employment opportunities in the health and care sectors.
