Level 3 Diploma in Law

Law involves analysing a wide range of issues and problems. It is a vibrant and exciting subject. It helps you to be self-confident in dealing with issues, disputes and other people. You will study specific areas of English law in detail and you will develop excellent, and transferable, analytical skills.

Studying on the Level 3 Diploma in Law course will gives you an understanding of the English legal system and will not only give you a taste of what it is like to study law but also what it is may be like to work in the legal profession. This course is designed to provide you with the skills that you will require working in the legal sector. However it is also a recognised Level 3 qualification which is accepted by most universities.

There will be a variety of teaching methods used plus guest speakers, class debates, trips and visits to the local courts. You will keep up to date with any changes in the Law, take an active part in class debates, independently research elements linked to your coursework, produce typed up criteria and present information to the class.

A variety of assessment methods are used but most work is through assignments. Each unit within the qualification has specified assessment and grading criteria which are to be used for grading purposes. A summative unit grade can be awarded at pass, merit or distinction

This qualification will suit you if you are planning to take a law degree but do not yet have sufficient, relevant attainment at Level 3 to meet the entry requirements for a higher education course.

This course prepares you to go straight into work in either a general or a legal secretarial role. An excellent opportunity to progress into careers, working with Probation Services and the Court System, Solicitors’ offices, barristers’ chambers, Law Courts, local authorities and the police.

  • Applicants must be 19+, motivated to study with a clear intention to progress to a higher education course;
  • Applicants will need to take a diagnostic assessment of literacy (unless already qualified to Level 2 in English and Maths);
  • Related work experience. More mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include experience of paid and/or unpaid employment.

If you are an UK/EU citizen or living in the UK on Indefinite Stay, you can receive support from the government via 19+Advanced Learning Loan to cover tuition fees costs while studying, depending on your circumstances. These loans help learners aged 19 and over, to pay the fees charged by approved colleges and training organisations in England.

You can get a tuition fee loan to cover your full course fees. You only start to pay back your student loan after you finish studying and are earning over £21,000 a year.
