Students who wish to pursue a successful career in Human Resource need to learn how to apply theories in real world situation. HND in Business Human Resource Pathway, is a combination of theoretical ideas and practical techniques, which gives a thorough grounding for a variety of careers in human resource management, general management and business planning.

Higher National Diploma in Business – Human Resources is a specialist vocational programme, linked to professional body requirements and with a strong work related emphasis.

Learners are introduced to the main areas of human resource management including an introduction to the human resource management role and function which is then built on to give a broader perspective to human resource management practices; of the role of training and employee development, including a consideration of government initiative aimed at developing skills; and employment relationships in the UK including industrial conflict, the resolution of disputes and negotiation.

The HND Business Human Resources course will help you to develop and demonstrate knowledge of contemporary approaches to human resource management including legal and ethical issues, organisational contexts, diversity and professional considerations.

You will also enhance your transferable skills such as critical analysis, project management, strategic planning and efficient business communication, to ensure that you have the awareness to succeed in the changing business world.

The course is designed to produce highly qualified, employment ready graduates who are able to play leading roles in a wide range of business management related careers.

Assessment is based on assignments, typically one assignment per unit. These assignments will vary and include a mix of formal reports, presentations and practical tasks, but there will be no formal exams.  You won’t have to write any exams during your HND; instead you will focus on gaining practical, applicable skills through real-world case studies and group and individual assignments.  Learners are assessed using a variety of methods, including group work, tutorials, lectures, seminars presentations, role play and case study analyses, written assignments. All units will be individually graded as ‘passes, ‘merit’ or ‘distinction’. To achieve a full qualification you must pass all 8 units to achieve the higher certificate and all 16 units to achieve the higher diploma.

The HND is a nationally and internationally recognised qualification throughout the business world. It provides a basic grounding in the core areas of business and management and leads to an enhanced career as well as promotion prospects. The HND gives automatic subject exemption from many professional qualifications.

Holders of the Higher National Diploma in Business can study for one additional year at various UK universities and gain a business degree (e.g. BA Honours in Business).

Successful completion of the course can lead to employment in human resource management, employee relations, training and professional development, as well as, in general management in the commercial or public sectors.

  • Minimum Age: 18 years old;
  • Applicants are required to submit proof of prior certificated learning (e.g. Secondary School Diploma/Baccalaureate/Level 3 qualification) or relevant work experience;
  • Applicants who do not have English as their first language will be required to demonstrate an approved level of proficiency in the use of the English language.
  • An interview with the college is compulsory prior student registration.

Government Founds – Student Finance England                                                                                                        

If you are an UK/EU citizen or living in the UK on Indefinite stay, you can receive support from the government via Student Loan Company to cover tuition fees and some living costs while studying, depending on your circumstances. Tuition fee loans, to cover the full cost of your course, are paid directly to the course provider. Maintenance loans can be applied for at the same time, lending you money at the start of each term. You won’t have to pay back the loan until after your course, when you’re earning above a certain level.  Students can still apply for grants if they’re eligible for certain benefits, disabled, or need help with childcare costs.
